Flashing instruction
Web flash
From now on there is preflash image in the whr-g300n folder that makes the serial access unnecessary for the initial flash to DD-WRT.
- Flash DD-WRT-WHR-G300N-preflash.enc via web-if
- The device will reboot
- Then flash the firmware.bin image via web-if, too, to finish the way to dd-wrt.
- After the automatic reboot DD-WRT will be accessible at 192.168.1.1
- If u brick it go to WHR-G300N#Serial_flash
Serial flash
It's also possible to flash this device with serial interface, this is handy also for troubleshooting.
- Solder pins to the 4 pin serial header near the wifi part:
- Connect a 4 pin serial level shifter cable with your PC and Router
- Prepare TFTP server (e.g. the one from the dl area).
- Download the latest DD-WRT WHR-G300N build to the root folder of the tftp and rename it to firmware.bin
- Set the IP address of your PC or the device which runs the tftp server to 192.168.11.2/24
- Set your consolte programm to 57600,8,n,1
- The boot timeout is 3 sec so you will have to be very fast with the following step.
- Power-on then following message will be displayed at the console.
--------------------- Please choose the operation: 1: Load system code to SDRAM via TFTP. 2: Load system code then write to Flash via TFTP. 3: Boot system code via Flash (default). 4: Entr boot command line interface. 9: Load Boot Loader code then write to Flash via TFTP. ---------------------
- Select [4] and put in this command
run ut_fw
Then the firmware.bin will be loaded from the tftp server and automaticly flashed.
- After the automatic reboot DD-WRT will be accessible at 192.168.1.1
