Maybe [[User:Monkey34|Monkey34's]] iron isn't hot enough? The solder flowed onto my iron with no trouble at all. It's probably some lead-free alloy that melts at a higher temperature.

Hi guys, I've been thinking about working on the GPIO fan control extension. What is the voltage of the GPIO pin when it is on? --Ndoo 14:11, 1 Apr 2007 (CEST)

Almost all of the system runs on 3.3v, including the GPIO pins. I haven't seen the spec. sheet for the processor, but I wouldn't try putting much current through the pins (use a FET or Darlington driver...) Daemondust

The power supply gives 5v at 2amps for 10watts of power. The Fon is rated at 4watts of draw (I don't know if this is peak, or sustained). Shouldn't we be able to wire a fan directly to the power input on the board without any worrying? Of course a 12v fan would run a bit slow.Monkey34 21:25, 26 Apr 2007 (EST)

Removing heat sink & RF shield

I'll edit the article if no one has a problem with this. I'm posting here first because I'll need to remove large sections of it.
