Note on devices with 2MB Flash

On devices with only 2MB Flash Memory, only the micro version of DD-WRT is supported. This is a stripped down firmware with only the basic features to get it to fit in the limited space. Users should not expect to be able to install additional software packages on such devices. Because of the limited features of the micro version, users are strongly recommended to avoid buying devices with only 2MB of Flash Memory.

It is best to get a router with 4MB or more of Flash Memory. Full DD-WRT firmware versions require 4MB of Flash Memory, any more is unnecessary for normal use, but can be used to install additional software packages.

Despite the limitations of micro compared to the full version, if you already own a device with 2MB of Flash Memory, installing the micro DD-WRT version is likely to add additional functionality that your devices original firmware did not support.

List of all supported routers

The ever-growing list of supported routers.

If your router is not on the list, but you have tested it successfully with DD-WRT, then please don't hesistate to add it to the page. Include specific versions of router/DD-WRT tested.

Various other brands and models have been mentioned as supported by BrainSlayer and others in the fora. However, it's not clear (to me) if any of the readily available images will boot on those models, or if you have to ask Brainslayer for them directly, or if you have to grab the sources and build versions yourself.

Almost all the above wireless routers have at least 4MB of flash memory. All the WRT54GS models prior to the v4.0 have 8MB of flash. Many other routers (including v5.0 of the WRT54G and WRT54GS) have only 2MB of flash memory. The "full" and "mini" versions of DD-WRT requires 4MB to install; the "micro" version requires 2MB.

See also Known incompatible devices for the black list.

Note on DUAL/MULTI Wan routers

Please note that if you intend to use your router as a DUAL/MULTI Wan router, do additional research before you purchase the router. For Example, the WZR-RS-G54 does not support DUAL Wan due to the type of Switch installed in the router.
