I have placed a spreadsheet version of this chart on Google Docs & Spreadsheets. You can view it as well as save a local copy (google account required): http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pWjxc9IlEbJSWHvaiIVs6ZQ . Unfortunately the online Google Spreadsheet does not preserve vertically spanning cells, and there is no way to make it globally editable, I have to invite specific people to edit it, sorry.

Note - If you want to make substantial changes to the table please read the Discussion page section on this table before you start, it might save you some time.

List of all supported routers

The ever-growing list of supported routers.

If your router is not on the list, but you have tested it successfully with DD-WRT, then please don't hesistate to add it to the page. Include specific versions of router/DD-WRT tested.

Various other brands and models have been mentioned as supported by BrainSlayer and others in the fora. However, it's not clear (to me) if any of the readily available images will boot on those models, or if you have to ask Brainslayer for them directly, or if you have to grab the sources and build versions yourself.

Almost all the above wireless routers have at least 4MB of flash memory. All the WRT54GS models prior to the v4.0 have 8MB of flash. Many other routers (including v5.0 of the WRT54G and WRT54GS) have only 2MB of flash memory. The "full" and "mini" versions of DD-WRT requires 4MB to install; the "micro" version requires 2MB.

See also Known incompatible devices for the black list.

Note on devices with 2MB Flash like WRTG(S) >= v5

If you have a device with only 2MB Flash memory only the micro version is supported. It is stripped down to the basic stuff, practically there is no way for a standard user to add stuff that is not already in there. For all Windows user out there which have got no experience with Linux or have maybe just installed SuSe and think now they are geeks: THERE IS NO WAY. Avoid buying those devices.

Note on DUAL/MULTI Wan routers

Please note that if you intend to use your router as a DUAL/MULTI Wan router, do additional research before you purchase the router. For Example, the WZR-RS-G54 does not support DUAL Wan due to the type of Switch installed in the router.

Old Comparison Table

  • I put this down here in case anyone wants to still look at this version.
  • this table is a work-in-progress and likely contains errors and omissions, please update it as needed
  • note: due to the huge array of variations in Linksys hardware supported, I have consolidated the specs for the Linksys WRT-models. If you would like to see the intricate details of the various versions of Linksys hardware, please refer to this OpenWRT Wiki page which has additional details.
