[edit] Introduction

The SSID, or service set identification, your router broadcasts is the wireless signal carrying the name of your network and allows other people to connect wirelessly to your network with ease. While your SSID is configured to be broadcasted by default, this feature can also be disabeled. If you choose to disable SSID broadcasting, you will need to set up a profile in your wireless network management software on your wireless clients using the SSID you've chosen. Don't forget to include all the applicable attributes such as encryption when defining this profile.

On the current implementation of DD-WRT, special characters that seem to work with MS Windows are not supported and refuse to be configured, leading to a failed connection. For example: "¡Bienvenidos! AMPM"
