This is ONLY for the Netgear R6400 (v1). It is not for R6400v2 (nor R6700v3 - R6400v2/R67000v2 forum thread).

The hardware is almost identical to a Netgear R6300v2, but has external antennas and different FCC and board IDs.

Firmware is in the netgear-r6400 directory, and has been supported in DD-WRT since build 29968. KONG builds may also be used. (K3-AC-ARM folder). See Where do I download firmware? for links to both Kong and regular (Brainslayer) builds.

  • Use the .chk file to flash from the OEM firmware GUI, then reset afterward: see below.
  • Use the webupgrade file to upgrade to a newer version of dd-wrt.

To restore default nvram settings either:

  • Select the factory reset option from the firmware upload GUI drop-down menu:
    • Administration->Firmware Upgrade
    • Select the firmware file and "reset to defaults" from the drop-down menu, then click Upgrade
  • ...or use the reset to default settings option:
    • Administration->Factory Defaults
    • Select radio button, then Apply settings

Telnet (or SSH, if enabled) to the device and see Erasing NVRAM, as this is build-dependent.
