Flashing Back To Stock Firmware

Use the recovery method below as it is not confirmed whether or not you can flash back to stock from DD-WRT webUI.

Recovery

[NOTE:] D-Link routers have Emergency Room for recovery

Prerequisites:

  1. Download D-Link firmware from the downloads tab of the Product Support Page.

Procedure

  1. Plug the Ethernet cable that connects your computer, that was plugged into one of the LAN ports,
  2. Setup your PC with static IP - ex: 192.168.0.2 (different from 192.168.0.1)
  3. Make sure the PC has the new firmware
  4. Unplug the power
  5. Hold the reset button for 3~5 seconds and re plug the power WITHOUT RELEASING THE RESET BUTTON.
  6. Open a web browser to 192.168.0.1 and then you should see EMERGENCY FLASHING page then click browse/upload locate the file and click UPLOAD FIRMWARE NOW
  7. You should see a SUCCESS page, If you don’t then re do steps 2-6
  • In step 6 you can use a factory firmware from D-Link webpage or factory-to-ddwrt.img file from DD-WRT.
  • If you succeed with the above and you're back on D-Link firmware, then you can flash to DD-WRT if you didn't use the factory-to-ddwrt.img file.

Opening The Case

Unlike most non-D-Link routers, this style is mainly held in by clips and not screws. There are 3 Philips screws located under 3 out of the 4 rubber feet, the back 3.
