Here is a quick howto for installing DD-WRT on a D-Link dir-615 D3 (I have the German version and so it goes that the inital flash did not work initially..) but then I downloaded the howto upgrade from the German D-Link site and learnt the following trick:
- download the applicable firmware (I used dlink-dir615d-fachtory-webflash). See Where do I download firmware? for links.
- open the router web interface at 192.168.0.1, goto maintainance
- delete the current language pack
- use the web unterface to "upgrade" your firmware
- goto 192.168.1.1 to have fun
