Introduction

This wireless mode allows a router to connect to a remote router as a client. This mode creates 2 separate subnets. Since the computers within the different subnets cannot see each other directly, this requires the enabling of NAT between the wireless and the wired ports, and setting up port forwarding for the computers behind the local wireless device. Segments connected via Client Mode Wireless cannot share a DHCP server.

If you have a wireless router connected to the Internet in a location and would like to connect wired clients in a remote location to allow shared Internet, one solution is to use Client Mode Wireless. This requires the remote router is a WRT54G running DD-WRT (or similar firmware). The WRT running client mode will connect to the main router as though it were any other computer, and will share the connection as though the main router were connected directly to its WAN port. This means that both routers will be on seperate subnets--and thus the clients will all be on seperate subnets), and NAT will exist between the routers so port forwarding will need to be done at both routers, not just the main router.

Si tienes un router conectado a Internet en 1 localización y te gustaria conectar varios clientes en una localización remota y permitir el acceso a Internet, la solución ideal es usar el modo Cliente del Linksys WRT54G. Se necesita un WRT54G en el sitio remoto corriendo nuestro firmware DD-WRT o alguno similar. El modo cliente recoge la señal wireless a traves del pueto WAN (internet) y es compartida por los 4 puertos de la LAN. Ademas se pueden separar la 4 bocas en 4 VLANS diferentes. Con este tipo de configuración se consigue mayor velocidad en las conexiones que con WDS, ademas de que la red remota queda invisible para la red inalambrica, a no ser que se configuren las rutas para que no lo sea. Con esta configuración solo consumiremos una dirección IP de la red inalambrica y en nuestra red local podremos tener todos los ordenadores que queramos conectados por cable. Para que nos hagamos una idea, funciona igual que un router ADSL conectado a Internet, en el que el cable del telefono se conecta a la boca WAN i es por donde nos entra Internet, y en el resto de bocas tenemos nuestra red privada que encamina todas las salidas a Internet por el cable telefonico. Al igual que los routers ADSL, hay que abrir los puertos para los diferentes servicios que queramos sean accesibles desde la red Wireless.

A diferencia del modo WDS, en el modo cliente no es posible acceder mas ordenadores por Wireless.

Si vous avez un routeur wifi connecté à Internet à un endroit et que vous souhaitez connecter des clients par cables situés à un autre endroit afin de partager une connection Internet, une solution est d'utiliser le mode client wifi. Cela nécessite d'avoir un routeur distant installé avec DD-WRT (ou équivalent). Le routeur fonctionnant en mode Client Wi-Fi va se connecter au routeur principal comme n'importe quel autre PC du reseau, et va partager la connection comme s'il etait relié directement sur le port WAN du premier routeur. Cela veut dire que les deux routeurs seront sur des Masques de sous reseaux séparés, donc les clients aussi, et qu'il y aura une redirection NAT entre les deux routeurs. Le port forwarding doit donc etre fait sur les deux routeurs, et non pas juste le principal.
