Sister site: Asus T-Mobile Cellspot

This site has been seeded from material from the T-Mobile Cellspot Wiki: the Cellspot is a hobbled RT-AC68U that can be upgraded to a fully functional RT-AC68U.

Links to verified firmware

Add a link to firmware if you have tested and has no issues:

1) FIRST asus_rt-ac68u-firmware.trx THEN flash dd-wrt.v24-K3_AC_ARM_STD.bin (per cdmarshall)

2) BRAINSLAYER BUILD: RT-AC68u 27413 (per MDA400 and gatorback)

3) BRAINSLAYER BUILD: Firmware: DD-WRT v3.0-r28211 std (11/16/15)

Firmware Install Procedure

1) Download the initial DD-WRT firmware Initial Firmware.

2) Download the latest recommended firmware from the section above.

3) Navigate to your ASUS Router administration and do a firmware update using the Initial DD-WRT Firmware file.

4) After the device has rebooted you should be able to login to the default address http://192.168.0.1. It may take a few minutes to reboot so be patient. You might also need to disable/re-enable your network adapter so it picks up a new IP address from the newly installed firmware.

5) Now navigate to "Administration" -> "Firmware Upgrade" and upgrade to the latest recommended firmware you downloaded in step 2.

6) After the device has rebooted again you will be able to login again at http://192.168.0.1. You will notice the new firmware version in the top right after logging in. You can now begin configuring the router.

Tips/Notes

- In Canada we had to set the Regulatory Domain to United States, and set Regulatory Mode to Off. Otherwise our bridges and some devices wouldn't connect. Otherwise the wireless signal was so weak it wouldn't make it out of the room.

- By default the wireless will come up as dd-wrt and is open. You should lock it down right away by navigating to wireless -> wireless security.

- If you change your network Local IP Address to another network like 192.168.2.1 it seems to clear the "Gateway" IP setting below it. After rebooting make sure your Gateway is also set to the same IP.
